Agriculture and Rural Development

Agriculture is the backbone of our nation and the heart of Iowa's way of life. Despite hardships such as floods, tornadoes, and derechos, our resilient farmers continue to produce a safe and abundant food supply, and they deserve their efforts to be matched in advocacy. I have introduced legislation to improve flood and drought mitigation and legislation that will protect the American food and agriculture supply chain from the influence of the Chinese Communist Party. I will continue to advocate for the renewal of the Farm Bill and for other policies that support the agricultural economy and provide farmers with the necessary resources to sustain their operations.

As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I have secured over $100 million in Community Project Funding to support flood mitigation, essential emergency services, childcare facilities, and infrastructure needs in the community. I will continue to advocate for improving rural infrastructure, expanding broadband access, and increasing access to healthcare.
