Congresswoman Hinson Hosts Town Hall in Delaware County

June 2, 2021

It’s the first year in the U.S. House for Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, who has been on the job for nearly five months.

And we had an opportunity to catch up with her Monday on KMCH.

When we asked Hinson what she hears from constituents as she travels through Iowa’s First District, she says there seems to be a few topics that get brought up most often.

On Tuesday afternoon, Congresswoman Hinson was in Manchester, hosting a town hall at the Delaware County Fairgrounds Pavilion. Around 70 people showed up to hear from the freshman congresswoman, who spent nearly an hour taking questions from the audience. A variety of topics were covered, including infrastructure, the war on drugs, gas prices, immigration/border security, taxes, childcare access, cattle prices and accountability in regards to the attack on the U.S. Capitol. One man became visibly upset as he demanded to know where the congresswoman gets her news that she shares with her constituents.

Hinson answered all the questions that were asked of her. She says she plans to visit all twenty counties in the First District every quarter.

Congresswoman Hinson was also in Anamosa today to visit Maquoketa Valley Electric Cooperative to hear about issues facing their industry, specifically increasing access to broadband.
