Rep. Hinson spends derecho anniversary talking with Iowans about recovery
Congresswoman Ashley Hinson spent her Tuesday afternoon visiting with Iowans to discuss their recovery efforts following the derecho.
The Republican representative stopped in Marion and shared her experience with the derecho to a crowd of community members.
Those same community members chatted with representative Hinson on their damage and recovery efforts the days following the storm.
"A lot of people got their roof replaced or maybe had some tree damage but their life went on. But there are people that are just now getting back into their homes. Its just really important to have that perspective and just being here today is a reminder of all of that," said Rep. Hinson.
The congresswoman said hearing from the community helps her to understand how best to respond to natural disasters and what federal agencies can do.
