Hinson Applauds Passage of Energy & Water Appropriations Bill
Washington, DC - Congresswoman Hinson (IA-02) released the following statement on House passage of the FY24 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies appropriations bill.
“The House is passing conservative, single-subject appropriations bills as we work to fund the government in a fiscally responsible manner. As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I helped craft this legislation to clawback Biden's wasteful spending in his so-called 'Inflation Reduction Act,' defund Biden's woke diversity, inclusion, and equity initiatives, and hold rogue bureaucratic agencies accountable.
"Additionally, this legislation terminates Biden's overreaching Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule and prevents oil from our strategic petroleum reserve from being sold to any entity controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. It also includes $1 million I requested to improve flood resiliency in Northeast Iowa, invests in critical materials research happening in Iowa, supports biofuels by promoting the GREET model for sustainable aviation fuel, and shores up U.S. cybersecurity efforts for our energy infrastructure.
"While the Biden Administration continues to throw together massive spending packages with no regard for your taxpayer dollars, we will continue advancing conservative bills that rein in wasteful spending while investing in key priorities for Iowa and America."
