Hinson Backed Bipartisan Legislation to Improve Retirement Security Passes House

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement on House passage of the bipartisan Securing a Strong Retirement Act. Hinson is a co-sponsor of this legislation that helps workers start saving for retirement earlier.

Background:
Per the Committee on Ways & Means, the bipartisan Securing a Strong Retirement Act will:

  • Create new tax credits to encourage small employers to offer retirement plans.
  • Automatically enroll employees in their company's 401(k) plan, while still providing an opt-out option. 
  • Support military families by providing a tax credit for small employers that make plan benefits more available to military spouses. 
  • Allows employer matching contributions to a retirement plan for employees that are making payments on student loans.
