Hinson Holds Roundtable with Bipartisan Group of IA-01 Sheriffs

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) today held a roundtable with sheriffs from the First District to hear about public safety issues in the community.

"The security of Iowa families is a top priority for me—everyone should feel safe in their neighborhoods and schools. I really appreciate sheriffs from across our district taking the time to provide me with an update on what they are hearing and seeing at home. We discussed the recent spike in opioid and methamphetamine overdoses, as well as public safety concerns about fentanyl trafficking. They also raised staffing challenges they are experiencing with finding a qualified pool of officer candidates in an environment where law enforcement is denigrated and attacked. I am so grateful for everything our law enforcement officers do to keep our communities safe and I will continue to hear from them, support them, and advocate for them." -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
