Hinson: Make Pelosi Promise to Uphold IA-02 Election Results

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following video statement calling for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to go on the record and promise that the U.S. House will not intervene in the IA-02 election.

"I joined my colleagues – Republicans and Democrats – to formalize the 2020 election results yesterday.

The American people elect their officials—not Congress. Our Constitution is clear about this, whether its convenient or not.

That’s why it is so outrageous that on the heels of last night’s votes, Speaker Pelosi is moving forward with her plan to overturn the will of Iowa voters who elected Dr. Mariannette Miller-Meeks to serve them in Congress.

She fully intends to overturn the voices, and most importantly the votes, of Iowans and install someone voters rejected at the ballot box for her own political gain. How hypocritical is that? 

Pelosi’s majority in the House is razor thin—her only goal is to add more numbers to her ranks. She thinks Republicans will stay silent as she steals this seat and silences the voices of Iowa voters. We cannot get distracted here; we cannot let this occur. We have got to stop Pelosi.

Call your Representatives. Hey, call Speaker Pelosi. Let’s put her on the record and make her promise that the House will not intervene in the IA-02 election and let the certified results stand."
