Hinson Presses Treasury Secretary Yellen on Delayed CFIUS Review of TikTok

Washington, D.C. - Today, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) participated in the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Financial Services and General Government hearing on President Biden's Fiscal Year 2024 Budget and Economic Outlook. Hinson pressed Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States' (CFIUS) delayed review of TikTok. Key highlights from the hearing are below.
 

Hinson asked Secretary Yellen to confirm that CFIUS would block a TikTok transaction if there was a national security concern with the app. She also noted that TikTok has been negotiating a national security contract with CFIUS for several years and asked Secretary Yellen to explain the delay as the app poses a major risk to Americans' national and personal security.
