Hinson Statement on Administration Releasing Illegal Immigrants into U.S. While Keeping American People in the Dark

October 14, 2021

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-01) released the following statement after leaked documents revealed that the Administration has released 160,000 illegal immigrants into the U.S. since March. Hinson has repeatedly asked the Administration to provide this information to Congress and the American people.

“While the Administration continues to dodge questions from Members of Congress, including myself, about the number of illegal immigrants released into our country— it took leaked documents to get the American people answers. The Administration is in fact releasing large numbers of illegal immigrants into the country, with no way to track them, and they are downright refusing to enforce our immigration laws that keep Americans and Iowans safe. President Biden continues to abdicate responsibility at the border and is putting our national security at risk. There needs to be accountability from this Administration for their compounding failures at the border, and the American people shouldn't be in the dark.”Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Background:

  • Rep. Hinson has repeatedly pressed U.S. Department of Homeland Security Officials on details regarding illegal immigrants released into the interior.
  • Since then, concerning reports have come out confirming that illegal immigrants are being released into the United States without a Notice to Appear (NTA) in court.
  • Rep. Hinson received responses to some of these questions last week, nearly five months after submitting them, and they are still incomplete and insufficient.
  • Leaked documents prove that the Administration has had this information readily available, they were just unwilling to share it with the American people.
