Hinson Statement on January 6th Commission Vote

Washington, D.C. – Representative Ashley Hinson (R-IA) released the following statement on the proposed commission to investigate the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. 

“I believe we need to get to the bottom of the attack on the Capitol on January 6th through a nonpartisan investigation, but I will not vote in favor of launching this commission while the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and the FBI have ongoing investigations. The commission should have been instructed not to interfere with ongoing law enforcement investigations to ensure that those responsible can be held accountable and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.” -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
