Hinson Statement on Mayorkas Impeachment Progress

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) released the following statement on the House Homeland Security Committee marking up articles of impeachment against Alejandro N. Mayorkas, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), for high crimes and misdemeanors. 

"I first called for Secretary Mayorkas to resign in 2021 after he lied to my appropriations colleagues and me about releasing illegal immigrants into the United States, and the lies haven't stopped since. At this point, if his mouth is moving, he is lying. I applaud Chairman Mark Green and the House Homeland Security Committee for conducting a thorough investigation into the causes, costs, and consequences of the border crisis that showed Secretary Mayorkas has willfully refused to comply with immigration law and has severely breached public trust. I fully support impeaching Secretary Mayorkas so that we can start to secure the border."  - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
