Hinson Votes to Defund 87,000 New IRS Agents

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Hinson (IA-02) released the following statement in support of the Family and Small Business Taxpayer Protection Act, legislation she helped introduce to defund the 87,000 new IRS agents while keeping in place funding that will help improve IRS operations and modernize the agency’s technology. 

"The IRS should be focused on customer service, not on targeting working Americans. I was proud to help introduce and support legislation to defund the 87,000 new IRS agents hired by President Biden and then-Speaker Pelosi. We should fire this army of auditors and instead ensure the IRS is better using its resources to get through their massive tax return backlog, catch wealthy tax cheats, and improve their failing operations.” - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
