PHOTO RELEASE: Hinson, Ernst Meet with Student Veterans at University of Dubuque

Washington, D.C. – Yesterday, Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-01) and Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) hosted a roundtable discussion with student veterans and other local veterans at the University of Dubuque to hear about the challenges facing veterans, particularly hurdles in transitioning to higher education after service.

"Those who served our country deserve the care and benefits they were promised, but too often our veterans face challenges in receiving these services. Senator Ernst and I heard from student and local veterans at the University of Dubuque yesterday about ways we can improve access to care, increase military retention, and address issues at the VA," said Congresswoman Ashley Hinson. "We will continue working together to ensure our veterans receive the care they have earned and to support student veterans in Iowa." 

 “As a veteran myself, I appreciated hearing from our student veterans in Dubuque. Yesterday’s roundtable with Congresswoman Hinson was an important opportunity to discuss the unique challenges they face, and the solutions we can find at the federal level,” said Senator Joni Ernst. “It’s crucial that our veterans have the tools necessary to transition back to civilian life, which includes pursuing a higher education.”
