PHOTOS: Hinson Highlights Impacts of Border Crisis in Iowa

March 29, 2024

Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (R-IA-02) highlighted the impacts of the border crisis in Iowa on her 22 County Tour. Details from her visits in Worth, Mitchell, and Winneshiek Counties are below.

"The crisis at our Southern Border is the top issue I hear about from Iowans. While Biden continues to ignore this self-made crisis, I went straight to the Iowans on the frontlines to hear more about the dangers the open border poses to our communities. For example, cartel-connected drug cases in Iowa have tripled since President Biden took office. I will continue working every single day to secure our border, prevent deadly drugs from entering Iowa, and support our law enforcement officers as they work tirelessly to keep us safe." - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Hinson met with representatives from the Worth County Sheriff's Office, Worth County Board of Supervisors, and Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation. During the visit, she learned more about their efforts to counter increased drug activity and human trafficking in rural Iowa stemming from the border crisis.

Hinson met with the Osage Police Department. She heard more about the influx of deadly drugs – especially meth – that has come to Iowa from the Southern Border.

Hinson met with the Iowa Narcotic Officers Association. They told her cartel-connected drug cases in Iowa have tripled since President Biden took office.
