PHOTOS: Hinson Works to Improve Air Travel for Veterans & Service Dogs with Iowa Veteran, Sgt. Trent Dirks and his Service Dog, Tracer
Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) was joined by Sergeant Trent Dirks, his service dog, Tracer, and Transportation Service Administration (TSA) officials for a TSA screening demonstration at the Eastern Iowa Airport today. Earlier this year, Sgt. Dirks explained the difficulties veterans and service dogs face with air travel, including inconsistencies with security screenings at various airports. Hinson secured a commitment from TSA Administrator David Pekoske to work together to ease this process for veterans. Today's demonstration was part of that effort. |

"Caring for our nation's veterans transcends politics, and I am grateful TSA officials came to Iowa as we work together to address challenges veterans face at airports. The current screening process can be stressful for service dogs and, in some cases, triggering for veterans, especially those with PTSD. We made good progress today, and I look forward to continued conversations with the Administration on behalf of our nation's veterans and their service dogs. I will continue working to ensure our veterans receive the best possible care and treatment and couldn't be luckier to have Sgt. Dirks and Tracer as partners in this cause!" - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson
