Rep. Hinson on Memorial Day: “Freedom isn’t free”

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) released the following video message in honor of Memorial Day.

“On Memorial Day, we honor the brave servicemen and women who made the ultimate sacrifice and laid down their lives for our country. 

'Freedom isn’t free. Our cherished freedoms came at a cost of millions of lives – American lives cut short so that we can exercise our God-given rights without fear. 

"Today, many Iowans and Americans will enjoy time with family, go to a barbeque with friends, or enjoy the day off work. Our way of life in America is only possible because of those servicemembers who made the ultimate sacrifice. 
 
"While we will never be able to fully repay the fallen, I will do my best to honor their sacrifice by working to ensure every veteran has the care, benefits, and respect they have earned. 
 
"To our service members and veterans both in Iowa and across the nation, thank you for your service.
 
"And to military families who have lost a loved one, we are keeping you in our thoughts and prayers today.
