"Hi, this is your Congresswoman Ashley Hinson.
Today is Rural Health Day! One of my top priorities in Congress is ensuring Iowans in rural areas have the same access to health care as those in urban areas.
While out in our district, I have seen firsthand the work our health care providers do every day to ensure Iowans can access quality health care – especially maternal care.
As a mom of two, I know the importance of accessing maternal health care. In some cases, expecting Iowa moms have to drive up to an hour to see their healthcare provider or OBGYN. When you’re pregnant, you should not have to worry if you will be able to see your doctor or get the care you need while you’re expecting.
That’s why I am committed to advancing efforts to ensure women in rural areas have the support and care they need for their health and the health of their babies.
From securing funding to expand maternity health care units, and introducing legislation that increases the number of trained midwives, to having my legislation to expand access to stillbirth prevention resources signed into law, I am proud of all we have accomplished to ensure more moms can have more healthy babies.
While we have made great progress, there is still more work to be done. I will continue working to ensure all Iowans – especially Iowa moms – have access to the best possible care."
