"I've had the honor of serving Iowans in Congress this year–and what a year it has been! I'm so proud of all we have accomplished, together, for Northeast Iowa.
"So, let’s recap 2021 in 2 minutes…ish.
"I’ve been to all 20 counties in Iowa’s First District at least four times this year to meet with Northeast Iowa families, farmers, small business owners, health care workers, community organizations, and veterans.
"We’ve hosted 12 in-person town halls and six virtual town halls to hear directly from you.
"I’ve taken all of these meetings, tours, and conversations to heart–and they have driven and continue to drive my work for you in Congress.
"I’ve introduced 18 bills this year, including:
- the Child CARE Act, to improve access to affordable child care for working families;
- the Defend the Blend Act, to provide Iowa’s family farmers and biofuel producers with certainty;
- the Protecting Financial Privacy Act, to stop the IRS from snooping in your personal bank accounts;
- and the Red Tape Reduction Act, to make the most impactful deregulatory Executive Orders from the previous Administration permanent and get the government out of the way to get our economy back on the right track.
"The entire Iowa delegation worked together on the bipartisan Sergeant Brandon Ketchum Rural Veterans Mental Health Act to ensure veterans in rural areas can receive the mental health care services they’ve earned and need. I was at the White House when President Biden signed this bill into law in June.
"As a Member of the House Appropriations Committee, I’m committed to bringing taxpayer dollars back home to be reinvested in Iowa and our priorities.
"I’ve secured federal funding for several infrastructure projects in our district, including to help modernize our lock and dam system in Guttenberg and to upgrade the Port of Dubuque.
"I’ve worked directly with FEMA to help our communities with derecho relief and with Congressman Randy Feenstra to ensure Iowa farmers receive federal crop loss relief.
"And, I successfully fought to ensure that the City of Dubuque could maintain its status as a metropolitan area, so that Dubuque can continue receiving federal resources and attracting new economic opportunities.
"We are in the business of customer service, and our team has helped many Iowans solve problems they’ve had with the federal government.
"We’ve closed over 900 cases of constituent work–helping people get back money they are owed by the IRS, collecting missing Social Security and veterans’ benefits, and expediting passport cases to help people reunite with their families all over the world.
"We've corresponded with over 30,000 constituents, including those who have contacted our team with questions, and we look forward to answering more of your questions in the new year.
"Finally, I’ve never missed a vote and I’ve never voted by proxy. I’ll keep showing up for you in Congress come 2022.
"It is a privilege to tell your stories in Washington, D.C. and it is an honor to fight for you and your family. We’re just getting started–I can’t wait to see what next year has in store."
