Hinson Applauds House Passage of Interior, Energy and Water, and Commerce, Justice Science Appropriations Bills

Hinson secured over $9.6 million in funding for her district. This package now heads to the Senate for final passage.

Washington, D.C. — Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) released the following statement on House passage of a government funding package, which includes the Fiscal Year 2026 Interior and Environment, Energy and Water Development, and Commerce, Justice, Science appropriations bills.

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am focused on ensuring Iowans’ taxpayer dollars are protected by reducing wasteful spending and prioritizing investments in Iowa communities. I was proud to secure key funding for Iowa in this package to support law enforcement and improve rural infrastructure. I’ll continue working to end wasteful overspending in Washington while delivering investments in Iowa.”  – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Rep. Hinson secured funding for several Community Project Funding (CPF) requests in Iowa’s Second Congressional District:

  • $2,000,000 for the Independence Wastewater Treatment Plant Replacement Project: This project will support the City of Independence’s efforts to modernize its wastewater treatment plant to ensure its residents continue to have access to safe drinking water and save taxpayer dollars by extending the lifespan of the city’s current facility. (BUCHANAN COUNTY)
  • $2,000,000 for the Dubuque High Strength Waste Project: This project will upgrade the high strength waste facilities at the City of Dubuque’s Water and Resource Recovery Center to alleviate operational challenges for the city’s treatment process and ensure higher water quality standards.  (DUBUQUE COUNTY)
  • $1,200,000 for the Dyersville Westlinden Lift Station Project: This project will support the City of Dyersville’s efforts to replace the outdated Westlinden Lift Station to reduce maintenance costs for local taxpayers and protect water quality. (DUBUQUE COUNTY)
  • $3,054,209 for Hardin County Radio Infrastructure: This project will equip the department with radio consoles and subscriber radio equipment needed to create interoperability for law enforcement in Hardin County, connecting them to the Iowa Statewide Interoperability Communication System (ISICS). (HARDIN COUNTY)
  • $1,364,725 for the Howard County Sheriff’s Department Communication and Radio Project:This project will upgrade radio systems and provide dual-band handheld and mobile radios to improve communication for law enforcement across Howard County and with the agencies on the Iowa Statewide Interoperability Communication System (ISICS). (HOWARD COUNTY)
