Hinson Secures Critical Funding for IA-02

November 14, 2025

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Ashley Hinson (IA-02) has secured key investments for Iowa’s Second Congressional District in the bipartisan government funding package through the Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26) Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration (Ag-FDA) appropriations bill. The package—signed into law by President Donald Trump yesterday evening—reopened the government following the Democrats self-inflicted shutdown.

“As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I am committed to cutting wasteful spending while ensuring every single dollar possible is brought home to Iowa to better our communities. I was proud to secure funding to improve emergency services, support rural drinking water projects, and invest in maternal health and surgical services that will strengthen care in rural Iowa.” – Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

Rep. Hinson secured funding for several Community Project Funding (CPF) requests in Iowa’s Second Congressional District:

  • $1,000,000 for the Aplington Protective Services Building: This project will fund a new facility for Aplington’s Fire and EMS departments, replacing a severely outdated building, to provide adequate space for vehicles and gear, dedicated decontamination areas, and training and office space to better serve the city and surrounding rural communities.  (BUTLER COUNTY)
  • $4,000,000 for the Belle Plaine Drinking Water Resiliency Project: This project will support upgrades to the City of Belle Plaine’s drinking water infrastructure to provide clean, reliable, and abundant drinking water to Belle Plaine’s residents. (BENTON COUNTY)
  • $265,451 for the Dysart Public Works Maintenance Facility Renovation: This project will support the construction of a new public works facility to safely hold equipment for the City of Dysart to support water treatment efforts, road maintenance, and snow removal. (TAMA COUNTY)
  • $1,000,000 for the Grinnell Regional Medical Center Labor and Delivery Unit Expansion: These funds will support the expansion of the Grinnell Regional Medical Center’s labor and delivery unit, increasing their delivery capacity to meet the demands of the rural six-county region that the hospital serves. (POWESHIEK COUNTY)
  • $700,000 for the WinnMed Surgical Department Upgrade: This project will equip WinnMed with state-of-the-art surgical technology to expand access to safe, minimally invasive surgeries in rural Iowa, reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for care. (WINNESHIEK COUNTY)
