 First Congressional District Representative Ashley Hinson stopped by the Iowa Derecho Relief Center to tour their new location on Jan. 26.

The freshman Republican said she had a busy start in Washington but is excited to be back in her district.

U.S. Rep. Ashley Hinson has been selected to serve on the House Appropriations Committee, which has vast control over how federal funds are spent.

The Marion Republican is the first freshman from Iowa’s 1st Congressional District to land a seat on Appropriations.

As a member of the committee, Hinson said she would “fight for priorities that matter to Iowans and rural America, ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly, push back on Democrats’ liberal agenda and bring some desperately needed transparency to government spending.”

In a letter to federal health leaders, Iowa Representatives Ashley Hinson and Cindy Axne expressed concern over delays in getting the vaccine to Iowa's rural areas.

Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Hinson is a co-sponsor of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Extension Act of 2021, which extends the PPP deadline by two months and provides the Small Business Administration (SBA) an additional 30 days to fully process loan applications received before the new May 31st deadline.
